I found you on the beach and you were as fucked as I
But we made it out alive, so we start again
We start again
We were on a ship of fools lost at sea when I lost
Where you end and I begin
I begin
We forgot who was captain and listened way too hard to a
pack of fools who didn’t really have a clue
They didn’t have a clue
We let it out
But what’s it all about?
The fucking and the living
The fighting and the killing
Some mediocre living
From mediocre beings
As the storm started rolling in I jumped overboard
Cause I didn’t really want to die but I was drowning
I was drowning
I looked back to see if you’d made it out alive but I
couldn’t see if you had survived or just died
Or just died
We let it out
But what’s it all about?
The fucking and the living
The fighting and the killing
Some mediocre living
From mediocre beings
Ships go down
World spins around
Lives burn down
World spins around
But you and I got something
You and I got something
You and I got something
You and I got something
I think it's difficult to write songs about something other than romantic love, and still be able to communicate the intensity with which those feelings can hit a person. Some of the entries on this album are fantastic examples of this niche. dani_bloop

Alvvays has always been great, but with this album they took it to the next level. Every one of these songs is lodged in my brain now, permanently (in a good way). s. moxley
