Do you remember the very first time
We had breakfast but you were not mine
You made eyes at me the whole time
But I’m slow I didn’t realise
Please slow it down
Please slow it down
You just sat biding your time
So patient til I realised
Red cheeks and lingering eyes
Was fucking cold we stayed inside
Please slow it down
Please slow it down
I took a breath and looked around
Please slow it down
I’ll never forget the time
You told me that you were mine
Pushed me up against a bathroom stall
I told you that’s not how I roll
Played a show and packed up my stuff
Forget bus call I am off
Cause I need you now
I need you now
I took a breath and looked around
I need you now
I want you I need you I have to
Have you where I can see you
Cause you slow me down
You slow me down
You slow me down
You slow me down
Now I get to see you every day
Smile like a creep in the morning
Til you open your eyes and say
FFS please go away
But I need you now
I need you now
I want you I need you I have to
Have you where I can see you
Cause you slow me down
I think it's difficult to write songs about something other than romantic love, and still be able to communicate the intensity with which those feelings can hit a person. Some of the entries on this album are fantastic examples of this niche. dani_bloop

Alvvays has always been great, but with this album they took it to the next level. Every one of these songs is lodged in my brain now, permanently (in a good way). s. moxley
